Lights will guide you home,
and ignite your bones (Ez 37:3-5),
and I will try to fix you (Phil. 1:6).
-Fix You, Coldplay
these words resounded, strong and hard, when i came to faith (which, incidentally, was also when coldplay’s x&y album was released). truly, God’s Spirit or “breath” has a deep power to “ignite bones” and bring them back to life. when the Messiah Himself was raised, this was the first palpable demonstration of such power–and the crucial bedrock of the faith of His brothers/friends/saints/sheep for all time. i, along with others who also claim to believe it, would do well to come back to this again, and again, and…again. in a recent blog post, steph cited a very interesting excerpt from the Case for the Real Jesus. while i still have to chew on the excerpt’s scripture-related comments, i do like Daniel Wallace’s image of the concentric circle with the foundational doctrines (e.g. Christ’s’ resurrection) at the center.
so, with such a strong association between the said lyrics, and my realization of the reality of the resurrection of the dead (and the cosmic remaking of all things a la rev. 21:5), it comes as no surprise that i have hot cognitions about how i evaluate coldplay’s music and how i perceive certain themes from their music to subtly weave into the Christian worldview.
common grace, for the win.
