Common

Kingdom-chuckles resound,
While the scoffer sulks.
And you tell me,
“Grace in the common,
Divinity in the same.”

After noon

Faces fresh, they fly
through the city-grind.
calves burn and ache:
I am an avenue traveler.
Man feeds bird
feeds hatchlings,
Chinese take-out box
shaped rice, plenty
To go around.
Sweat-soaked socks
Kicked off with relief.
Cozy close with fans, ice-water,
Pillow.

New Lyrics

I think I’m pretty settled on the second verse and chorus of the new song I’m working on (entitled “Back to Baseline”):
I once knew an old man,
Who didn’t know what to give.
He spoke to his grandchild,
Gave him words of love to live.
The child took those words,
And made himself a home.
Now he’s an old man,
with a [...]

Silent Treatment

Here is an excerpt from the newest song I’ve been working on. It’s called Silent Treatment:
Such a fine art to keep playing your part,
Stop and then start to let me in your heart.
Please,
don’t go,
So soon.
The smoke and the heat’s gettin’ thick in the brush,
With the scald of the devil you can never get enough,
You gotta [...]

Easier on Paper (verse 2)

All the doors closed, everything sold.
As we’re limping with pride.
But if only, all the lonely[ness]
Would keep staying the tide.
There’s a newsflash, ’bout a car crash,
No survivors to save.
You seem leery, of your theories,
‘Cause they won’t fit the page.
Chasing words so fleeting now,
Tell me what can I do.
I spent it all on destiny’s ride,
But I can’t [...]

Easier on Paper

Here is a new song in the works, lyrics unfinished. It’s called Easier on Paper. See below for the first verse and chorus:
We kiss swords,
in our discord.
Jamming sticks in the spokes.
There’s no turning,
but the burning,
Tickles under your throat.
Heavy hearts crunch,
Bitter words punch,
As hope is taking her bow.
Swooners clapping,
Children napping,
They never woke to the sound.
Chasing your [...]

Break the Day

So many wasted dreams,
Are breaking at the seams.
She’s sold for pleasure,
But what’s the measure?
Of a single life,
Who’s only seen the night?
With the watchmen we['ll] wait,
To seize the daybreak.
Grind your sorrows into sand.
Let the flash-fears fall from your shaking hands.
The accusers’ words grow deafening,
As the lowly spirits of revolution sing.

A hand to help and hold,
As [...]

Fruit from the Muse

I’ve been blessed lately with some new lyrics. They’re not in their final form yet, but I think they’re getting closer. Here are two excerpts, one from a new song called Waiting Signal and the other from another new song called Velvet Room Surprise:
You know just what it takes,
To be the oil to my squeaky [...]

present

unsettling sense,
who gently shakes
the preconceived.
turn, now, here?
to hint with flesh.
more can be done there,
no? yes.
affirm that which
was always there.
there, where smiles abound.
where the Presence
is there, in spite of the Absence.
present yourself, there.
sense it fast.
don’t absent yourself.
you know you’re right.
the true sense lingers,
rubs your shoulder.
conceives anew.

cloud-burst

a curious vagary,
with glancing, conditioned air-bursts.
the tongues resound,
murmur intent,
murmur in tents.
toe-slippage,
strategic puddle avoidance.
drops collect and convene.
gray eyes ephemeral find my gaze.
then, a familiar.
a sharp-cornered outline,
his untainted stripes,  my spongy bunched hair.
before all things,
He brings the rain.
